Junos Pulse VPN Client

 

Please Note:
Only Lincoln University staff or Postgraduates can connect to pulse.lincoln.ac.nz 
Pulse uses: • HTTPS Port: 443 • Address: https://pulse.lincoln.ac.nz 
  

Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10

Follow below instructions to set up the VPN connection:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go to pulse.lincoln.ac.nz (Using IE)
  3. Enter your LU username and password (without lu\)
  4. Click on the Start button under the Client Application Sessions box
  5. Follow all the setup prompts.
  6. The Junos Pulse client will show on the Taskbar when the installation completed.
  7. After that the user can click on the icon on the Taskbar (right hand) to connect, disconnect or exit the VPN.
  8. Once connected you can map your H or S drive  Mapping Network Drives

 

Windows 10 App from Windows Store

  1. You need a Microsoft Account to be able to download items from the Store 
  2. Click on this link to get the Junos Pulse app from the Windows Store.
  3. Click on Get the app to download the app.

Follow below instructions to set up the VPN connection:

  1. Press the Windows button
  2. Type VPN
  3. Select Change virtual private networks (VPN)
  4. Under VPN, tap Add a VPN connection
  5. Select Pulse Secure VPN
  6. Name the connection: Lincoln VPN
  7. Server Name is pulse.lincoln.ac.nz
  8. Tap Save
  9. Go to the Wifi Networks (where you connect to a wifi network)
  10. Lincoln VPN will show just above the Wifi networks
  11. Make sure you are connected to a Wifi network, like LincolnHotspot
  12. Click on Connect - Lincoln VPN
  13. Enter your LU username and password
  14. Click Connect
  15. Once connected you can map your H or S drive  Mapping Network Drives

 

Surface Pro/RT or Windows 8 built in VPN on computers 

Follow below instructions to set up the VPN connection:

  1. Swipe in from right
  2. Settings
  3. Change PC settings
  4. Network
  5. Under VPN, tap Add a VPN connection
  6. Select Juniper Networks Junos Pulse
  7. Name the connection: Lincoln VPN
  8. Server Name is pulse.lincoln.ac.nz
  9. Tap Save
  10. Go to the Wifi Networks (where you connect to a wifi network)
  11. Lincoln VPN will show just above the Wifi networks
  12. Make sure you are connected to a Wifi network, like LincolnHotspot
  13. Click on Connect - Lincoln VPN
  14. Enter your LU username and password
  15. Click Connect
  16. Once connected you can map your H or S drive Mapping Network Drives 

FollowMe print queues: (FollowMe will not install on a Surface RT)

You will have to enter your LU username and password at some point, make sure you put LU\username
When the FollowME_BW printer installation finishes, then do the same for the colour print queue: \\v-rprint1.lincoln.ac.nz\followme_col

 

 

Mac Computers  

Follow below instructions to set up the VPN connection:

  1. Download Apple Mac VPN client off the Software Download page. http://ithelp.lincoln.ac.nz/Software/Software-download-service/
  2. Double click on the installer file.
  3. This will map a drive to the desktop which we will remove later.
  4. Open JunosPulse.pkg and follow the install instructions.
  5. Once installed you should see the Junos Pulse icon in the status bar. Click on it and select open Junos Pulse.
  6. Click on the add symbol in the bottom left to and a new VPN connection.
  7. Enter the following details and press add.
  8. Name the connection: Lincoln VPN
  9. Server Name is pulse.lincoln.ac.nz
  10. Now click on Connect.
  11. Enter you Lincoln University login details into the username and password field and press connect.
  12. The Junos Pulse icon in the status bar will show up with a green tick once it has successfully connected.
  13. Finally you want to remove the Junos Pulse mapped drive. You do this by right clicking on it and select Eject.

Android 

  1. Download and install Juno Pulse from the Google Play Store.
  2. Using the GUI fill in your Lincoln credentials.
  3. Pulse.lincoln.ac.nz
  4. LU Username
  5. LU Password

The app can be used to connect to HUB and Lincoln intranet webpages. Mapping share drives is not automated on Android currently.

 

 

IPhone / iPad  

  1. Download the Junos Pulse app from the App Store.
  2. Using the GUI, fill in your Lincoln credentials
  3. pulse.lincoln.ac.nz
  4. LU username
  5. LU Password

The app can be used to connect to HUB and Lincoln intranet webpages. Mapping share drives is not automated on iPhone currently.
